Bathukamma Flowers

Bathukamma Festival is a festival of flowers celebrated by the women folks of Telangana state
just before the beginning of winter, when large varieties of flowers bloom in vibrant colors.


Thangedu Flower – Thangedu Puvvu also called as Tanners Cassia – Senna auriculata is the main and important flower used in preparing Bathukamma. Make sure that you keep at least one Thangedu Flower In Bathukamma.The root is used in decotoins against fevers,diabetes,diseases of urinary system and constipartion.



Gunugu Puvvu – Flower also called as Silver Cock’s comb – Celosia agrentea is used In preparing Bathukamma The flower and seed is  astringent,haemostatic,ophthalmic,parasiticide and poultice.it is used in the treatment of bloody stool
hemorrhoid bleeding, uterine bleeding, leucorrhoea, dysentery, diarrhoea, bloodshot eyes, blurring of vision, cataracts, hypertension, infected sores, wounds, skin eruptions, poison from snake bites, jaundice and liver disease.


Pattu kuchhu Puvvu – Flower also called as Cock’s comb – Celosia agrentea is used In preparing Bathukamma Medicinal values of Pattu kuchhu Flower : Pattu kuchhu Flower often grown in gardens.Pattu kuchhu has various medicinal properties like Antibacterial, Anti-inflammatory, Wound Healing, Antioxidant properties.




Rudraksha Flower – Puvvu also called as Chandrakantha, Marvel of Peru – Mirabilis Jalapa is used In preparing Bathukamma Rudraksha is a large, evergreen broad-leaved tree. The flowers of Rudraksha are white with fringed petals.
